In ad­di­tion to hymns, Straub wrote tem­per­ance songs, such as For Mo­ther’s Sake I Will Re­frain and Fight the Bat­tle at the Polls (cam­paign song of the Pro­hi­bi­tion Home Pro­tect­ion Par­ty). Sol­o­mon Straub was her bro­ther.
