Stanley was part­ner with W. P. Gard­ner in the Stan­ley-Gard­ner Com­pa­ny, a Gos­pel mu­sic pub­lish­er in Sal­til­lo, Mis­sis­sip­pi. They is­sued sev­er­al pa­per­back hymn­als, most without dates, and al­so Ru­diments of Mu­sic. In ad­di­tion, Stanley ran a mu­sic school in Sal­til­lo, and served as a Jus­tice of the Peace
