Son of Daniel Franklin Southwick, Frank studied music under Theodore Thomas, Otto Singer and George E. Whiting of New York. At age 15, he became organist of the First Baptist Church of Meriden. He later served as organist at Christ Church, Hartford; Church of the Holy Trinity, Middletown; First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, New Jersey; and in New York City at the Church of the Holy Trinity, St. Andrew’s & the West End Presbyterian Church.
