Biography

Wilhelm was the son of or­gan­ist Wil­helm Os­car Sö­der­berg, and hus­band of Sig­rid El­vi­ra Ström­berg.

He stu­died at the Stock­holm con­ser­va­to­ry, passed the or­gan­ist ex­am in 1867, and gra­du­at­ed in in­stru­ment­al per­for­mance and or­ches­tral con­duct­ing in 1870.

He played the or­gan in Stock­holm (1871–73) and taught mu­sic in Karls­hamn (1873). He taught un­til 1912, and con­tin­ued playing the or­gan un­til his death.

He was al­so a found­ing mem­ber of the Karl Hams mu­sic com­pa­ny in 1876, and was its first di­rect­or, 1876–1911.
