Biography

Elizabeth was the daugh­ter of Wil­liam Al­len (pre­si­dent of Bowd­oin Col­lege, 1820–39) and Ma­ria Malle­ville Wheel­ock. She mar­ried Dr. Hen­ry Boyn­ton Smith, pro­fes­sor at the Un­ion Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, New York, in 1843.
