Daughter of James Bell, a Glasgow advocate, Jane contributed several pieces to The Edinburgh Literary Journal (edited by her brother, Henry G. Bell), and later to the Scottish Christian Herald. Her husband was her cousin, J. Bell Simpson of Glasgow. Her works include:
