Biography

Minot was the son of Lang­don Si­mons and Sa­rah Fran­ces Shep­ard, and hus­band of Hel­en Lou­ise Sav­age (mar­ried 1894).

He was edu­cat­ed at Phil­lips Exe­ter Aca­de­my, Exe­ter, New Hamp­shire; Har­vard Uni­vers­ity, Cam­bridge, Mas­sa­chu­setts (BA 1891, BST 1894); and Mead­ville Theo­lo­gic­al School, Mead­ville, Penn­syl­van­ia (now Mead­ville Lom­bard Theo­lo­gic­al School, Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois) (DD 1921).

Ordained a Uni­tar­ian min­is­ter in 1895, he served pas­tor­ates in Bil­le­ri­ca, Mas­sa­chu­setts; Cleve­land, Ohio; and New York Ci­ty. He was the sixth pas­tor at All Souls Uni­tar­ian church in New York Ci­ty, 1923–41.

He was al­so a preach­er at West­ern Re­serve Uni­vers­ity, Cleve­land, Ohio (1904–19), and a mem­ber of the board of preach­ers at Har­vard Uni­vers­ity (1912–13).
