Buried: Saint Ma­ry’s Ce­me­te­ry, New­ton Low­er Falls, Mas­sa­chu­setts.

Biography

Shinn was the son of Will­iam Hoot­en Shinn and Sar­ah Wolfe.

He stu­died un­der Phillips Brooks at the Virg­in­ia Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, and gra­du­at­ed from the Phi­la­del­phia Di­vi­ni­ty School in 1863.

He be­came a Pro­test­ant Epis­co­pal min­is­ter, and held rec­tor­ates in Phi­la­del­phia, Sha­mo­kin and Lock Ha­ven, Penn­syl­van­ia.

In Jan­ua­ry 1875, he be­came rec­tor of Grace Epis­co­pal Church, New­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts, and served there 35 years.
