Biography

Elizabeth was the daugh­ter of so­li­ci­tor Tho­mas Sew­ell and Jane Ed­wards; sis­ter of Hen­ry Sew­ell, first pre­mier of New Zea­land; and sister of James Edw­ards Sewell, war­den of New Col­lege, Ox­ford Uni­ver­si­ty.
