Biography

Rowton was edu­cat­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Dur­ham (BA 1871, MA 1874, MusB 1890, MusD 1891) and Tri­ni­ty Col­lege, Dub­lin (MusB 1889, MusD 1890).

He was or­dained a dea­con in 1872, and a priest in 1872, and served in a num­ber of po­si­tions:

• Assistant mas­ter, Ep­som Col­lege (1872–1901)
• Precentor, Brad­field Col­lege (1901–07)
• Curate, Christ Church, Scar­bor­ough (1907–08)
• Curate, St. Mi­chael and All An­gels, Folke­stone (1908–15)
• Rector, Wick­en Bo­nant, Es­sex (1915–16)
• Rector, Ful­let­by, Lin­coln­shire (1916–22)
• Curate-in-charge, Or­by, Lin­col­nshire (1922–27)
