Ap­ril 9, 1934, Gwent, Wales.

Ed­u­cat­ed at Cam­bridge and Ox­ford Un­i­ver­si­ties, Row­thorn spent 19 years teach­ing in ecu­men­ic­al sem­in­ar­ies in Amer­i­ca. He then be­came Bi­shop in Charge of the Con­vo­ca­tion of Amer­i­can Church­es in Eu­rope, with his of­fice at the Amer­i­can Ca­thed­ral in Par­is. In 1973, he helped es­tab­lish the In­sti­tute of Sac­red Mu­sic at Yale Un­i­ver­si­ty. Af­ter 14 years as a Pro­fes­sor of Li­tur­gics, he was elect­ed Suf­fra­gen Bi­shop of the Epis­co­pal Di­o­cese of Con­nec­ti­cut. His works in­clude:
