Born: Au­gust 31, 1838, near Tho­mas­ton, Geor­gia.

Died: June 14, 1931, Ten­nille, Geor­gia, at the home of her daugh­ter, Hel­en Gra­ham Ro­gers Frank­lin.

Buried: Green­wood Ce­me­te­ry, Tho­mas­ton, Geor­gia.

Biography

Louisa was the daugh­ter of Da­vid Lane Ken­dall and Lou­isa Ro­gers Steele, and wife of ar­my of­fi­cer James Hen­ry Rog­ers, Sr.

She at­tend­ed the Wes­ley­an Fe­male Col­lege in Macon, Geor­gia.

When hus­band died in 1875, she be­gan teach­ing. In 1879, she took a po­si­tion in the pri­ma­ry school at the pri­vate Gor­don In­sti­tute.
