Biography

Francis was the son of John Ro­bert­shaw and Eliz­abeth Knott, and hus­band of Em­i­le Ri­chard­son-Cooke (mar­ried July 16, 1870, Wal­tham­stow Par­ish Church, Lon­don, Eng­land).

He taught mu­sic in Eng­land and Am­er­ica, and was a pro­fes­sor at the Chi­ca­go School of Mu­sic.

He found­ed the St. Mar­tin’s choir, di­rect­ed the Apol­lo Club, and be­longed to the Bor­rowed Time Club in Oak Park, Il­li­nois.
