Biography

Lina was the daugh­ter of Da­vid Zook and Mag­da­le­na Blough, and wife of Ja­cob An­drews Ress­ler (mar­ried 1903).

From 1895–1900 she worked as a ci­ty mis­sion­ary at the Home Mis­sion in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, and was pre­cep­tress and teach­er at the Elk­hart In­sti­tute, Elk­hart, In­di­ana, 1900–03.

She and her new hus­band Jacob served as mis­sion­ar­ies in Ind­ia, 1903–08.

She ed­it­ed Beams of Light (1936–46), worked as an ed­it­or in the let­ter de­part­ment of Words of Cheer, and was ed­it­or of the les­son pic­ture cards from 1936 un­til her death.

From around 1926–32, she was pre­si­dent of what lat­er be­came known as the Wo­men’s Mis­sion­ary Sew­ing Cir­cle. She al­so served as pre­si­dent of the South­west­ern Penn­syl­van­ia Dis­trict Sew­ing Cir­cle from about 1928–34.

And some­how, she found time to teach wo­men’s Sun­day school at the North Scott­dale Mis­sion Sun­day School.
