Ramsey was for many years a well known teacher near Bournemouth.
He retired in 1916. In the last year of his life he was in poor health, but he organized and conducted a choral society in Chichester.
A prolific composer of part-songs and pianoforte pieces, he also wrote hymns and carols, and on musical theory.
