Biography

Ramer was the son of James Sam­uel Ra­mer and Ly­dia A. Reed­er, and hus­band of Tar­lie Paul­ine Ste­gall.

He is re­mem­bered as a pas­tor, hymn writ­er, sing­er, and as mo­der­a­tor of the Cum­ber­land Pres­by­te­ri­an Ge­ne­ral As­sem­bly in 1939.

He served in World War I, and while ov­er­seas preached in se­ver­al church­es in Bri­tain. Beth­el Col­lege (now Beth­el Uni­ver­si­ty) gave him an hon­or­ary Doc­tor of Di­vi­ni­ty de­gree in 1957.
