Died: May 11, 2008, near Mt. Ver­non, Mis­sou­ri, in a bus ac­ci­dent.

Buried: Wood­lawn Cross Mau­so­leu­m, Nash­ville, Ten­nes­see.

Biography

Dottie was the daugh­ter of Jearl Ver­non Chick Lut­trell and Eli­za­beth Bur­den, and wife of Ri­chard Fay Buck Ra­mbo.

In 1994, the Chris­tian Coun­try Mu­sic As­so­cia­tion gave her its Song­writ­er of the Cen­tu­ry Award.

She was in­duct­ed in­to the Gos­pel Mu­sic As­so­cia­tion Hall of Fame in 1992, the Sou­thern Gos­pel Mu­sic As­so­cia­tion Hall of Fame in 1997, and the Ken­tuc­ky Mu­sic Hall of Fame in 2006.

In 2000, she re­ceived the Life­time Achieve­ment Award from the Am­er­ican So­cie­ty of Com­pos­ers, Au­thors, and Pub­lish­ers.

Performers who have re­cord­ed her songs in­clude Whit­ney Hous­ton, El­vis Pres­ley, Ca­rol Chan­ning, San­di Pat­ty, Bar­ba­ra Man­drell, Dol­ly Par­ton, Vince Gill, Rhon­da Vin­cent, Ves­tal Good­man, Lit­tle Ri­chard, Jer­ry Lee Lew­is, So­lo­mon Burke, and George Jones.
