Biography

Of Welsh descent, Pyer joined the Methodist Society in 1803, and subsequently became, for a while, a local preacher in that connection.

He was then engaged for some time in what was known as The Tent Mission. This evangelical work led him in 1830 to join the London City Mission.

In 1834, he became pastor of a Congregational chapel at South Molton, Devon. He later held similar posts in Cork and Devonport.

His Memoirs, by his daughter, Mrs. K. P. Russell, were published in 1865.
