Grant was the son of Samuel Pollock and Elizabeth Ann Hamilton, and husband of Gertrude Cox Litten.
He was admitted on trial to Methodist Episcopal Pittsburgh Conference in 1900, gaining full membership in 1902. He became a deacon in 1902, and elder in 1904.
He held numerous appointments throughout Pennsylvania, including the Robinson Street Mission, Pittsburgh (1913–19), and Conference Evangelist (1919–30).
