Biography

Plass was edu­cat­ed at the Hud­son Aca­de­my, Hud­son, New York; Will­iams College (BA 1882, MA 1885, DD 1904), Will­iams­town, Mas­sa­chu­setts; and Yale Uni­ver­si­ty, New Ha­ven, Con­nec­ti­cut (BD 1886).

Ordained in 1885, he held pas­tor­ates at the Re­formed (Dutch) Church, Sho­dack, New York; the Con­gre­ga­tion­al Church, De­troit, Mi­chi­gan; in Li­ncoln, Ne­braska; Me­di­na and Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio; and Bar­ring­ton, Rhode Island.

He was al­so state su­per­in­ten­dent of the Rhode Island Anti-Sa­loon League, su­per­in­ten­dent of the An­ti-Sa­loon League of Great­er New York, and as­sist­ant state su­per­in­ten­dent (1897–99).

In 1900, he was in the field for the na­tion­al Con­gre­ga­tion­al Home Mis­sion­ary So­cie­ty.

In 1901, he was elect­ed pro­fess­or of The­ism and Chris­tian Ev­i­denc­es, and Fi­nan­cial Agent at Wash­burn Col­lege, To­pe­ka, Kan­sas; he served as pre­si­dent of Wash­burn (1902–08).
