Daughter of minister Thomas A. Goodwin, Myra attended Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, DC, taught at DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, and worked in evangelism for the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. In 1885, she married Samuel Plantz, who served as president of Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin (1894–1924). Her works include:
