Pigott was the first child of William Wellesley Pole Pigott and Lucy Henrietta Trench. Her brother, Thomas Wellesley Pigott, a missionary in China, was murdered in the 1901 Boxer Rebellion. Jean contributed some hymns to Hymns of Consecration and Faith. Her other works include:
