Pennewell mar­ried twice, to Clau­dia B. Pen­ne­well and My­ra Eli­za­beth Schroe­der.

In 1910, Al­mer and Clau­dia were in Fine, New York. The 1920 cen­sus lists him as a Me­tho­dist Epis­co­pal pas­tor in Ev­an­ston, Il­li­nois.
