Biography

Pearce was edu­cat­ed at Cam­bridge (BMus 1881, DMus 1884), and stu­died or­gan un­der Theo­dore Ayl­ward, Will­iam Hoyte, and Ed­ward Hop­kins.

He served as or­gan­ist at St. Mar­tin’s, Sal­is­bu­ry (1871–73); St. Luke’s, Old Street (1874); and St. Cle­ment’s, East­cheap (1885).

He was Pro­fess­or at Tri­ni­ty Col­lege, Lon­don (1882); Dean of the Col­lege (1892); and Ex­am­in­er at Cam­bridge for BMus (1888–91) and DMus (1895).
