Pearsall prac­ticed law un­til 1825, when he suf­fered a stroke. He then went to Mainz, Ger­ma­ny, to stu­dy mu­sic un­der Jo­seph Pan­ny. He lived most of the rest of his life out­side Bri­tain, ev­en sell­ing his fam­i­ly es­tate at Wills­bridge. He is best re­mem­bered for his part songs, or­ches­tral works, an­thems, serv­ic­es, mad­ri­gals, mu­sic­al treat­is­es, and ed­it­ing of a Ca­tho­lic hymn­al. He lived in Karls­ru­he, Ger­ma­ny, for a while, but spent the last years of his life at War­ten­see Cas­tle, on the shores of the Bo­den­see (Lake Con­stance).
