Lina Pearce

December 29, 1845, Lowell, Ohio.

Selina’s father, William Pearce, immigrated from England, in 1842, and was a Baptist minister in Marietta, Ohio. Selina was educated in the public schools in Marietta, and subsequently in the Young Ladies’ institute at Granville, Ohio, where she graduated in 1864. She then became a teacher, 1878–79, at Almira College, Greenville, Illinois (1872–79), and, starting in 1881, as a high school principal in Marietta.
