Biography

Edward mar­ried twice: to Sar­ah At­kin­son and Char­lotte Su­san­nah Free.

He be­gan his ca­reer as a phy­si­cian at Guy’s Hos­pi­tal in Lon­don, and the Swan­sea In­fir­ma­ry (1819–36).

However, he quick­ly mi­grat­ed to the li­ter­ary field. For some time he was as­so­ci­at­ed with the So­ci­ety for Pro­mot­ing Chris­tian Know­ledge, in both Lon­don and Bath. In 1841, he be­came ed­it­or of the Roy­al Corn­wall Ga­zette, and moved to Tru­ro.
