Born: June 12, 1842, Os­lo, Nor­way.

Died: March 20, 1866, Par­is, France, of tu­ber­cu­lo­sis.

Buried: Orig­in­al­ly in Fried­hof Je­ru­sa­lem IV der Je­ru­sa­lems-und Neu­en Kirche, Kreuz­berg, Ber­lin, Ger­ma­ny. Re-interred in 1925 in Vår Frel­sers Grav­lund, Os­lo, Nor­way. His orig­in­al grave mar­ker still stands in Ber­lin.

Biography

Nordraak was a cou­sin of Nor­we­gian writ­er and po­et Bjørn­stjerne Bjørn­son.

Works

He pro­duced about 40 com­po­si­tions dur­ing his short life. He is prob­ab­ly is best re­mem­bered as com­pos­er of the mu­sic for the Nor­we­gian na­tion­al an­them Ja, vi els­ker det­te lan­det (Yes, We Love This Coun­try).
