Biography

Newman be­came a dea­con in 1879, and a priest the next year. He served as as­sist­ant cur­ate at Eg­lo­shayle (1879–83); St. Is­sey (1883–85); Saw­bridge­worth, Hert­ford­shire (1885–88); St. Glu­vi­as (1888–89); vi­car of St. George’s, Tru­ro (1889–1909); chap­lain of the Roy­al Corn­wall In­firm­a­ry in Tru­ro (1889–1909); and li­censed preach­er in the dio­cese of Tru­ro (1909–15).

He re­tired in Wor­ces­ter.
