Biography

Newhall at­tend­ed Am­herst Col­lege and Un­ion Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, and was or­dained a Con­gre­ga­tion­al min­is­ter.

He pas­tored ov­er 25 years, then be­came as­so­ci­at­ed with the Unit­ed States For­est­ry Ser­vice, and de­vel­oped a re­pu­ta­tion as an out­stand­ing na­tur­al­ist.

He re­tired in 1905 to Ber­ke­ley, Ca­li­for­nia.
