Muir came to Christ at a meet­ing led by Don­ald Mun­ro and John Smith in Hamil­ton, On­tar­io, in 1875. He moved to De­troit, Mi­chi­gan, in 1881, and be­came an ac­tive evan­gel­ist throug­hout Mi­chi­gan.
