Biography

William mar­ried twice: to Em­ma Don­ley (1881, Mont­gom­ery, Mi­chi­gan) and Ju­lia A. Mc­Kay (Jan­ua­ry 22, 1902, at her par­ents’ home in Spring Ar­bor).

He was pas­tor of the Spring Ar­bor Free Me­thod­ist Church, Spring Ar­bor, Mi­chi­gan, in the 1930s.

William and Ju­lia were strong sup­port­ers of Spring Ar­bor Uni­vers­ity, where Muf­fitt Hall, a re­si­dence hall built in 1941, was named af­ter them.
