Born: January 4, 1838, London, England.
Educated for an academic career, Moss became headmaster of a school in Cardiff, Wales, on January 4, 1858. He stayed there four years, then held a similar position at Wantage, Berkshire.
Leaving academia for the musical profession, he returned to London. In June 1866 he was appointed precentor of Poultry Chapel, a post he held for nine years.
In January 1877 he became tenor vocalist at the Foundling Chapel.
