Mary was the daugh­ter of George Hen­ry Hoop­er of Stan­more, Mid­dle­sex, Eng­land, and wife of Jo­seph Maude, some­time vi­car of Chirk (be­tween Wrex­ham & Os­wes­try), and Can­on of St. Asaph (?–1887) (mar­ried 1841).
