Marckant was In­cum­bent of Clac­ton Mag­na (1559) and Shop­land (1563-8), Eng­land. He wrote on­ly few small piec­es: a po­li­tic­al po­em on Lord Went­worth (1558-9); a New Year’s gift en­ti­tled With Speed Re­turn to God; and Vers­es to Di­vers Good Pur­pos­es (cir­ca 1580). He al­so con­trib­uted four en­tries to the me­tric­al ver­sion of the Psalms known as the Old Ver­sion.
