Biography

Joseph was the hus­band of Nel­lie Mar­ga­ret Ry­er­son.

Raised a Ro­man Ca­tho­lic, he joined the Sal­va­tion Ar­my; served in Ca­na­da, New Jer­sey, New York, and else­where; and rose to the rank of bri­ga­dier.

He was evi­dent­ly a chap­lain in World War I, and spi­rit­ual ad­vis­er to Whea­ton Mi­li­ta­ry Col­lege.
