Lloyd taught Sunday school in Oxford and London.
In 1810, he was appointed as one of the secretaries of the British Sunday School Union. In 1816, he became connected with the Religious Tract Society.
He founded the Sunday-School Teacher’s Magazine, and for some years edited the Child’s Companion.
