Lissant was a chor­ist­er at the cor­o­na­tion of Bri­tain’s Queen Vic­tor­ia. In 1849, he be­came the first or­gan­ist at St. Paul’s Ca­thed­ral in Cal­cut­ta, In­dia. From about 1872 to 1899, he played the or­gan at St. Au­gus­tine’s Church, Queen’s Gate, Lon­don.
