Circa 1550, Gotha, Germany.

November 6, 1631, Gotha, Germany.

Son of Nicolaus Lindemann, burgess at Gotha, Johann attended the Gymnasium in Gotha, and apparently thereafter studied and graduated MA at Jena. He seems to have become cantor at Gotha around 1571, and retired from this post in 1631. Julian, pp. 677, states that in 1634, he was a member of the new Council at Gotha, though this conflicts with his reported death year of 1631. Lindemann’s works include:

  1. In Dir ist Freude
  2. Jesu wollst uns weisen
