Lester was ed­u­cat­ed at St. John’s Col­lege, Cam­bridge (MA 1871). Or­dained in 1868, he pas­tored in a num­ber of lo­ca­tions; was di­o­ces­an mis­sion­er in Lich­field; and Rec­tor at Hack­ney and Lex­den, Es­sex. His works in­clude:
