Biography

Leslie was a train­er of cho­rus­es, a pro­fes­sion­al mu­si­cian and com­pos­er.

He was als­o known for his cat­tle: In 1887, he started a pure­bred Ab­er­deen-An­gus herd on his farm at Cot­tage Grove, Wis­con­sin. He even wrote songs prais­ing the mer­its of the breed (to­day known as Angus): Song of the Dod­dies and The Jol­ly Old Far­mer.
