Biography

John was the son of Jo­seph Wal­beck Kis­sing­er and Eli­za­beth Schott, and hus­band of Eli­za­beth M. Wake­field.

He served on the first coun­cil of St. John’s Lu­ther­an Church in New Flor­ence, Penn­syl­van­ia, when the church was found­ed in 1873. He was still in New Flor­ence in 1881, ac­cord­ing to a de­di­ca­tion in New Sab­bath Carols, by R. B. Ma­haf­fey.

He taught mu­sic in ad­di­tion to com­pos­ing.
