Biography

After a short bu­si­ness ca­reer, Kid­ner be­came a pro­fess­ion­al mu­si­cian in 1875. Up­on the death of his friend Al­fred Stone, he be­came sec­re­ta­ry and man­ag­er of the Bris­tol Mu­sic Fes­ti­val, a post he held ov­er 30 years.

During this pe­ri­od, he was ac­tive­ly en­gaged teach­ing sing­ing class­es and choirs, and con­duct­ing the Bris­tol Glee­men, a so­cie­ty he found­ed in 1886.
