Homer was the son of David Clinton Kellems and Louisa Amanda Flint, and husband of Ruth Faye Finkbeiner.
Homer and his brother, Jesse R. Kellems, were known as the Sunshine Evangelists
(they were living in Sunshine, Washington, in 1917).
Homer and Jesse graduated from the State University of Oregon and Eugene Bible University, and afterward attended Columbia University, New York City.
