Educated at Worcester College, Oxford, Jones was ordained in Ireland in 1858. He had several appointments, including St. Philip, Clerkenwell, London; Christ Church, Liverpool; Knights Enham, Andover; Rector of Batsford, Gloucestershire and Rector of Colby, Norwich Diocese (1895–1902).
