Born: Oc­to­ber 1852, Al­der­ney, Chan­nel Is­lands, Unit­ed King­dom (where his fa­ther was sta­tioned).

Died: Au­gust 5, 1905, Ma­ry­le­bone, Lon­don, Eng­land.

Biography

Jervois was the son of Will­iam Fran­cis Drum­mond Jer­vois (lat­er a lieu­ten­ant ge­ne­ral).

He was edu­cat­ed at Rug­by and at Tri­ni­ty Col­lege, Ox­ford (BA 1876, MA 1878).

He was or­dained an Ang­li­can dea­con in 1878, and priest in 1879. He be­came vi­car of St. Ma­ry Mag­da­lene, Mun­ster Square, Lon­don, in 1896.

Until his death, he was a mem­ber of the com­mit­tee that com­piled The Eng­lish Hym­nal of 1906.
