Jamouneau came from a Hugue­not line from the Poi­tou region of France. In 1897,he mar­ried Eva Maw­er in Louth, Lin­coln­shire; at the time, he was listed as a Pro­fess­or of Mu­sic in Kings­ton up­on Hull. Ja­mou­neau es­tablish­ed him­self as a pub­lish­er and com­pos­er, put­ting out over 150 works, from hymns to a full op­e­ra.
