Biography

Hughes marr­ied twice: to Ma­ry E. Wall­ing­ford (1881) and Sa­die Maude Pet­ty.

He found­ed As­bury Col­lege (now As­bury Uni­ver­si­ty), Wil­more, Ken­tuc­ky, and was its first pre­si­dent (1890–1905).
