Biography

Charles was the son of Ja­cob Fries Hott and Jane Streit, bro­ther of George Hott, and hus­band of Ar­be­lon Cle­men­tine Ey­ler (mar­ried 1877, Mey­er­sdale, Ma­r­yland).

Hott be­gan preach­ing in 1869, and was or­dained in 1872.

He taught at the She­nan­do­ah In­sti­tute, Win­ches­ter, Vir­gin­ia (1879) and pas­tored in Boons­bo­ro, Ma­ry­land, for eight years.

He then moved cross coun­try to serve a Unit­ed Breth­ren church in Wood­bridge, Ca­li­for­nia.
