Holt was a min­is­ter.

The song book where his tune Mir­a­mar ap­peared was print­ed in Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio, so per­haps he was the W. D. Holt who was pas­tor of the Wy­om­ing Bap­tist Church in Cin­cin­na­ti, 1893–98.
